Dancing is being in a state of pure bliss, when one is dancing one hardly cares what happened a few minutes ago and what would happen after dancing. Just like being in the state of meditation, one is in the moment. Just experiencing the energy the dance releases. Dancing is the best way to keep oneself healthy and happy.

Whether you go to the gym or do yoga, exercise, or walk – does not matter, just include 15-20 minutes of Dance exercise in your routine. It is proven through studies that Dancing boosts your happy hormones.

And to dance one need not be classically trained, especially when you want to dance for exercise, one can just lift hands and legs, and enjoy. You really do not need dancing skills to break your leg. Just full toss dance, even if you do not know to dance.  As they say always ‘Chance pe Dance.

In India, we have so many popular folk dance forms like Garba, Bhangra, Bihu, and so many others, in addition to the classical dances, in addition, we have the Bollywood dancing form, which is now very popular even abroad. Western dance forms like Salsa, Hip-hop are also in demand nowadays. Then, Zumba dance is also very popular which is meant for exercising.

But if you do not have to join dance classes or even if you do not know any dance form, just play the music, select at least 4-5 songs (minimum 15 minutes) and do dance cum exercise on the beat. It's so simple.

Dancing has many health benefits, it is a whole-body workout that's actually fun. Dancing can be a way to stay fit for people of all ages, shapes and sizes. It has a wide range of physical and mental benefits including improved condition of your heart and lungs, increased muscular strength, endurance and motor fitness. It's good for your heart, it makes you stronger, and it can help with balance and coordination. A 30-minute dance class burns between 130 and 250 calories, about the same as jogging.

Dance can lead to:

  2. Better Brain Health – Taking the time to remember steps and the changing movements of dance is also a great way to challenge your brain, no matter your age.

  5. Most importantly, Higher Self-Esteem & Confidence – Practice makes one perfect, a good dancer is always in demand 😉
